Do I watch BookTok? Absolutely I do! I think I would be pretty hard to avoid it these days.
Even though it has it's fair share of negative aspects, I don’t think it’s all terrible. I have come across some amazing books recommendations through it, such as 'The Inheritance Games' by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig, and 'One of Us Is Lying' by Karen M. McManus.
Of course, BookTok has it's downsides, such as the promotion of over-consumption, excessive 'hype' around new releases- causing disappointment and toxicity within the 'reader community' and a pressure to follow or be ahead of trends.
However, I do want to say that it is important to be mindful of the videos that you engage with, because TikTok generates content for viewers based on an algorithm of previous user-interaction.
